03 - A brief escape

Corey and I decided to escape for the weekend up to a gathering in Mount Maunganui. Although quite a drive from our wee beach home we thought we would make the most of it, stopping frequently and exploring the landscape and local food spots.

The first pit stop was a stroll through the tussocks of the desert road, a spot I always find so inspiring due to the tonal landscape and textured vegetation. We then travelled up to Rotorua, enjoying a bite at Terrace Kitchen, an amazing cafe/restaurant with a beautiful aesthetic and equally as pleasing menu. Lastly we took a stroll through the beautiful redwoods where we arrived at the Hamurana springs. Although this walk costs, in my opinion it is well worth it. The clear water, diverse colours and towering trees make it an inspiring stop for the nature lover.
Arriving into The Mount, the weather was less than ideal but eager to make the most out of a childless minication we spent the weekend eating, shopping and catching up with friends. Here are some of my recommendations
