07 - Off the grid in Ngawi

After a full on start to the year we decided we needed to get off the grid and reset at one of our favourite places, Ngawi. It is a small fishing village a short drive from Cape Palliser, the southern most point of the North Island. Before setting up camp we went and done the lighthouse walk, after quite a few stairs you are rewarded by the most stunning views. At the base of the lighthouse the boys enjoyed jumping around the rocks and seeing all the seals, the perfect way to burn off some energy. We then stayed at a DOC site at the base of the Putangirua Pinnacles, based between 2 valleys of beautiful cliffs of staggered rock. We woke the next morning and done the round trip to the pinnacles and the walk did not disappoint. We then set up camp along the shoreline by a popular surf break. With an easy drive into town to grab some fish n chips from the local food truck it was the perfect place to soak in one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen.
